Hanover MA

Hanover was established in 1727 exactly 107 years after the Pilgrims landed in nearby Plymouth. It has maintained its “country town” atmosphere over the years. North River boatyards prospered between 1678 and 1871 when more than 1000 vessels were launched. Today’s population of nearly 14,000 still allows room for open space and woodlands. Several ponds, streams and rivers, which join North River as it flows to the Atlantic Ocean, provide both summer and winter recreational opportunities. Hanover is within easy commuting range of the world famous educational institutions in the Boston/Cambridge area. Other New England colleges and universities are found within a short driving distance.
