San Marino is located in Southern California, adjacent to the City of Pasadena at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains. 3.77 square miles in size, the population was reported to be 13,147 in 2010. The climate is temperate with temperatures ranging from an average of 40 degrees during the winter months to an average of 90 degrees in the summer.
The founders of the City, wished it to be uniquely residential…single-family homes on large lots surrounded by beautiful gardens. There were to be no manufacturing districts, heavy business areas or any apartment houses or duplexes.
The San Marino School District includes Carver and Valentine Elementary Schools, Huntington Middle School and San Marino High School, each a recipient of the California Distinguished School Award. Private Schools in the city include Clairbourn School, Southwestern Academy and Sts. Felicitas and Perpetua Parochial School.
